Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday said that YouTube, a video sharing website, would be reopened soon.
On December 29, Raja Pervez Ashraf ordered closure of YouTube minutes after its reopening in the country on the directives of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to Internet service providers and information technology (IT) companies.
The prime minister said that the website had still not removed the blasphemous material. Adding that, the government had contacted the website organizers to remove the profane content.
“Blasphemous content on the website has hurt our feelings,” he said.
“YouTube can only be reopened after the filtration of blasphemous content”.
